Prayer books

Front page designed around one of the oldest forms of Arabic calligraphy called a Kufic, that consists of a modified form of the old Nabataean script. The character form is mostly in a horizontal position and frequently appear as patterns. My Dads heritage is mixed, and is what I wanted to reflect in the cover using Tulips from Persia, lilies from Sri-Lanka, rose leaves as well as blues and hues found in Morocco.

The cover below I illustrated a geometric pattern using the shape of a crescent within a circle. In Islam, this represents the unity of the monotheistic God and the centre God, as well as Mecca. considered the spiritual and geographical centres of Islam. The repetition of shapes suggests harmony, order and the colours are symbolic of her birthplace Pakistan.
